Good morning, all....
Day 213 of the rant started out looking a little stormy, and its definitely muggy. I hope we don't get the heavy rains they predict. Too much ripe grain in the field hasn't been combined and heavy rain would definitely hurt it.
So once in a while even a fashion goddess like myself has to shop for clothes, and I get catalogs so I waste a lot of time just looking. I refuse to buy clothing at Walmart.....when I did in the past I met myself coming and going as everyone else I ran into was wearing the identical same thing.
Even though I have lost weight, I am still considered a 'plus' size although I am at the lower end of the line. Therefore, the catalogs I receive have the capabilities of dressing someone my size as well as someone the size of a three quarter ton vehicle with style.
I will have to admit, a good share of the "more fashionable" clothing for plus sizes is ugly, and I wouldn't wear those styles to a dog fight if I knew both of the dogs. There was one moss green dress in particular. I don't wear dresses, skirts, etc. This dress simply caught my eye because it was just awful, and the little (who am I kidding?) model wearing it looked awful in it. This dress could easily have done double duty covering three ton of hay from the elements, or even covering up a tractor. The dress was not cheap, which conveyed to me I didn't need it on so many levels. I can't imagine who designs this stuff.....but I'll bet its someone with a sense of humor. UcenterDress wedding wears specially designed for full-figure ladies
But it gets better....there was a crocheted two piece swim suit designed for a plus sized lady, and it was scarey. My Grandma crocheted dish cloths that used more yarn than that particular garment. It, too, came in an ugly moss green color which makes me think there must have been a surplus. Any plus sized lady who chose to wear this would be in danger of a massive coming out party way beyond her control.
In all fairness, there are blouses and tee shirts, shorts and pants, that look good and are reasonably priced in these catalogs.. The person wearing them still looks plus sized.....but neat and appropriately attired. We are not all the same size. When you are my size, NOTHING is going to make you look like a size 6.....not even a teeny little string bikini! (ESPECIALLY not a little string bikini!)
Have a good day!
